My Investment Journey

In 2006, I got my first Big Boy job. I was grossly overpaid compared to my peers, and I quickly started doing some math. How long would it take to save up for a (used) car? How long would it take to save up for a down payment for a property? Ideally, I'd like to travel a bit, start a family, buy a bigger house, have kids, a second car maybe? I don't think I was asking too much. Even factoring in potential promotions and bonuses, it did not add up. How do successful people I look up to afford all those nice things?

The answer is investing. I was raised to do regular savings and find the best deal among the banks' savings accounts. Nothing more. 0.75% higher yield? Take my money!

It turns out, there is a whole world of fully legit investments out there, with the potential of much better returns than my old savings accounts. As I did not want to let go of my dreams, I started learning about investing, understand the risks, and did my first steps!

Many years later, I found eToro, a new, challenger broker at the time in 2013. It turns out, they had an amazing feature, enabling everyday people to have outstanding results by copying people who already did decades of learning!

I joined their ranks, and I became, as they call it, a Popular Investor!
