When it comes to finances, I believe the earlier you start, the better. My daughter is just 8, but she’s already on her way to becoming a savvy money manager.
💳She’s got her own debit card. She designed it herself, of course, with ponies and diamonds.
🛒Every time we hit the grocery store, I don’t buy her snacks. Instead, she gets $4 loaded onto her card. She can spend it on anything she wants, with no limits. She can buy expensive candy. She can also save up for something bigger.
The result? She’s now a pro at hunting down the best cookie deals in the store. She knows exactly where the good stuff is that fits her budget.
📖We’ve also read this fantastic book a couple of times on how money works, with little windows to open on the page. She’s starting to understand the basics, and I can see her gears turning. Every time we read it, she comes up with new, better, more exciting questions.
🏦In a few years, she’ll be ready to make her first investments. Will she go for $HAS (Hasbro Inc) $MSFT (Microsoft) or maybe even $DOGE (Dogecoin) ? We’ve only just scratched the surface of what a company is, so there’s plenty of time to decide.
✅If I do my job right, I won’t need to help her buy her first property—she’ll be able to buy it herself. 🏡
